California Selects Vendors for Off-Premises Cloud Storage Services Contract

The selected vendors are IBM and Infiniti Consulting Group of Folsom, Calif., according to procurement records associated with a competitive bid that was originally issued in June 2016.

The California Department of Technology this week announced an Intent to Award for off-premises cloud storage services.

The selected vendors are IBM and Infiniti Consulting Group of Folsom, Calif., according to procurement records associated with a competitive bid that was originally issued in June 2016.

Called "Storage as a Service" (STaaS), it will join the department's growing portfolio of "Vendor-Hosted Subscription Services." In the VHSS model, customers pay a prenegotiated rate and pay as they go. The Department of Technology acts as a service broker.

After receiving input from the supplier community, California is creating separate brokered offerings for both off-premises and on-premises storage. The on-premises contract is scheduled to be awarded to a vendor in about two weeks.
