DGS Completes New Statewide Contracts for Tablets

The seven manufacturers and five suppliers were selected through a competitive procurement that started in spring 2016.The agreements will be in force through at least September 2018.

The California Department of General Services (DGS) recently finalized new statewide contracts for buying tablets. The contracts are mandatory for state agencies and departments, and are optional for local governments.

The awarded manufacturers and suppliers were selected through a competitive procurement that started in spring 2016. The new contracts are:

Commercial Grade Tablets
Apple / Natix, Inc.
Microsoft / PC Specialists Inc. dba Technology Integration Group (TIG)
Samsung / CDW Government LLC (CDW·G)

Business Class Tablets
Dell / PC Specialists Inc. dba Technology Integration Group (TIG)
Hewlett-Packard / NWN Corporation dba NWN Solutions Corp.
Lenovo / Enterprise Networking Solutions Inc. dba ENS Inc.

Rugged Tablets
Getac / NWN Corp. dba NWN Solutions Corp.

The agreements will be in force through September 2018 and include three one-year optional extensions. DGS says these contracts are the first ones they've put together for tablets, and they wanted to give customers a wide range of options. To access the contracts, see the State Contracts Index Listing.

In 2015 the California Department of Technology issued a policy giving qualified state entities the authority to purchase tablet devices on their own. The policy superseded a process enacted in 2012 in which an agency or department had to fill out a tablet justification form and send it to the then-California Technology Agency for approval before making the purchase.
