Ellen Ishimoto Named Assistant Chief at OTech

Ellen Ishimoto

Ellen Ishimoto has been named assistant chief of the California Office of Technology Services (OTech), officials told staff on Friday.

Ishimoto is currently working as a project director in OTech’s Customer Delivery Division and she formerly was CIO of the California Lottery for seven years until 2012. During her 30-year career with the state, she has held positions at the Teale Data Center, the Department of Transportation and was chair of an Enterprise Architecture Committee that was under the direction of the state CIO.

"Ellen knows what it is like to work in a high profile organization that relies heavily on technology. Her perspective as a customer CIO will be valuable as we continue our focus on improving customer service," OTech chief Davood Ghods wrote in an email to staff on Friday.

Ishimoto’s first day as assistant chief is Oct. 13. She is replacing Jeff Uyeda, who in August moved on to become executive partner at FI$Cal, the state’s new financial information management system.
