The Department of General Services has released a bid seeking vendors to provide printers and multi-functional devices (MFDs) to the state of California and participating local governmental agencies at contracted pricing.

The chosen bidder or bidders "will be the primary point for warehousing, data collection, reporting, and distribution of printers and MFDs to the state," according to the bid document.

Letters of intent to bid are due March 15. Draft bids are due April 7.

"The current mandatory contracts for printers & multi-functional devices were established by RFP DGS 57069 which was conducted by the DGS-PD in 2011. The contracts were awarded to distributors of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) by printer functionality," the bid invitation says. Eighteen contracts were awarded under that contract.

The devices are divided into four contract categories: personal desktops, office printers, multifunctional devices and plotters.

According to the state, about $20 million has been procured through the existing contracts as of the beginning of 2016.

Equipment manufacturers and distributors that are incumbents on this contract include: Dell, Granite Data Solutions, HP, NWN, Samsung, TIG and Xerox.
