IT Personnel Changes Coming to California Employment Development Department

The California Employment Development Department is looking to hire a new leader for its Technology Governance Division, who will be responsible for EDD's Project Approval Lifecycle process and IT project portfolio.

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking to hire a new leader for its Technology Governance Division (TGD).

TGD operates under the direction of the deputy director of EDD’s Information Technology Branch, a position currently held by Gail Overhouse. The job posting states that the agency’s chief will be charged with developing policies in enterprise architecture and audits, and is also responsible for EDD’s Project Approval Lifecycle process and enterprise IT project portfolio.

The move to bring in a new head of TGD follows another recent job opening at EDD. Last month, the department began searching for a Benefit Systems Modernization Project director. The EDD's benefit systems include the California Unemployment Benefit Services/Unemployment Insurance Online, State Disability Insurance Online, Paid Family Leave and the EDD’s Single Client Database mainframe systems. The director will lead EDD in replacing the individual applications with a single, integrated system and will be exploring commercial-off-the-shelf solutions.

The final filing date for the TGD position application is Feb. 16. According to the post, the position is still pending control agency approval.
