New Bids Pending for CALNET 3, Vendor-Hosted Software Solutions

The California Department of Technology anticipates it will, during the next few months, release bid invitations seeking providers for cloud-based backup recovery services, e-signatures and satellite voice services.

Chris Cruz, chief deputy director of operations for the California Department of Technology, gave the expected time frame for these bid opportunities during a local TV interview last week:

  • Cruz said his department is working with the Secretary of State's Office to finalize language before an RFP for digital signatures and e-signatures software is released in June or July. E-signature will become part of the Department of Technology's Vendor Hosted Software Solutions (VHSS) portfolio.
  • Another bid for cloud-based backup and recovery services will be released sometime in May or June.
  • A bid invitation seeking satellite voice communications through the CALNET 3 contract will be released April 25. For the new satellite subcategory of services, the state is looking to create a purchasing vehicle that would offer “a full suite of statewide satellite voice and low-speed data services to Executive Branch Agencies and local government entities.” Solutions include satellite voice services, satellite voice service plans, and satellite phones and terminals.
