Here are five noteworthy developments Techwire is tracking as 2015 begins to wind down.

1. CalPERS issued an RFI on Nov. 9 for information about a cloud-based data warehouse for its organization. The solution could be delivered via "Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and/or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for a secure data warehouse for use by novice or experienced users to access data for report development, ad hoc reporting or business analytics," according to CalPERS. One or multiple RFPs related to a data warehouse could be issued during the first quarter of 2016, CalPERS CIO Liana Bailey-Crimmins said earlier this year. This solicitation ends Dec. 18.

2. The Department of Technology released a bid on Nov. 2 seeking “multiple Vendor Hosted Software Solutions for human resources tools such that customer state departments can select from various manufacturers based on individual needs.” This bid for HR tools — draft bids are due Dec. 4.  is the first of a series of Vendor Hosted Software Solutions (VHSS) the Department of Technology plans as part of its revised approach to the state’s private cloud and its overall cloud strategy. Additional bids for collaboration tools, customer relationship management (CRM), identity management and learning management systems also will be released in the future, the department announced.

3. The Office of Systems Integration’s Electronic Benefit Transfer Services contract could be awarded as soon as the calendar turns in 2016. A public cost opening occurred Friday, Nov. 13, at OSI’s office in Natomas. The notice of intent to award is scheduled for Dec. 1, according to an updated RFP released in early October. The contract award date is slated for Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. Like most states, California contracts with service providers to operate and administer its EBT system that manages food and cash benefits for 2.1 million recipients. These programs are called CalFresh and CalWorks, respectively.

4. The Department of General Services is seeking a payment provider for the system that centralizes travel management services for the California state workforce. The Travel Payment System (TPS) is a component of the Statewide Travel Program, which was created in 2008 and whose use is mandated among the state workforce. All air and car spending is captured through the TPS, and the state plans to incorporate lodging too. Final proposals are due Dec. 2.

5. The state of Idaho, in partnership with the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), has released an RFP seeking proposals that would establish master agreements for data breach and credit monitoring services. California is a NASPO member. This solicitation ends Dec. 3.
