RFI Released for Water Quality Information Management Solution

The California State Water Resources Control Board this week published a Request for Information (RFI) seeking to identify alternatives for a water quality information management solution that will automate business processes, collect data, and support evaluation of critical operations through reporting applications and analysis tools.

The California State Water Resources Control Board this week published a Request for Information (RFI) seeking to identify alternatives for a water quality information management solution that will automate business processes, collect data, and support evaluation of critical operations through reporting applications and analysis tools.

The intent of the RFI is to obtain input from the vendor community, to better understand solution alternatives, estimate costs, and gather vendor feedback on the draft system requirements. This RFI is preparing the State Water Board and its regional boards for a future procurement under the state’s Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).

The new system will support six water quality programs, including the well-known Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) program.

“Currently, each program uses its own databases, spreadsheets, custom applications or existing Water Boards systems – or combination thereof – to collect water quality and programmatic data, track project activities, and manage multiple workloads. Without a single system containing both programmatic and water quality data, reporting and data entry processes are cumbersome, duplicative, inconsistent, and time consuming,” the RFI says.

Responses to the RFI are due Feb. 15. Interested vendors can download the RFI on the SWRCB website (.doc).
