What Will California Technology Look Like in 2020?

California is now working to answer that question within a new statewide IT strategic plan it's beginning to develop. Called "Vision 2020," it will encompass a multi-year look at 2017 and beyond.

California is now working to answer that question within a new statewide IT strategic plan it's beginning to develop.

Called "Vision 2020," it will encompass a multi-year look at 2017 through 2020; will include a new vision statement and mission, guiding principles and goals; and will feature a new implementation plan and new performance metrics that will be reported annually.

The state is "completely revamping" the strategic plan this year, said Manveer Bola, who manages strategic planning and policy for the California Department of Technology (CDT).

The department is in the discovery phase right now, Bola said. The process includes engaging external customers and internal staff to gather their input and ideas for Vision 2020.

Bola presented the timeline for the strategic plan project in this slide.
