Data: San Francisco Proposes $74M for Big Enterprise IT Projects

Expenditures include a financial system replacement project, upgraded radios, a new property and tax assessment system, and more.

San Francisco's city and county government proposes to budget more than $74 million for major department-level and enterprisewide IT projects during the next two fiscal years, through 2017-18. The estimate comes from data presented at a April 21 meeting of the Committee on Information Technology.

Some tidbits about the second slide from the committee presentation:

  • San Francisco's Office of the Controller is in design phase for its Financial System Project (F$P), and the go-live date is slated for summer 2017. About $21.5 million has been budgeted for F$P during the next two fiscal years.
  • The $78.1 million replacement project for the 800 MHz citywide emergency radio system is negotiating contracts with Motorola.
  • System acquisition activities, including a procurement, for the Assessor-Recorder's Office's $54.5 million Property Assessment and Tax System could begin at the end of 2016 and continue through 2017.
  • During the 2016-17 fiscal year, the San Francisco Department of Public Health plans to procure a unified eHR system. With 10 years of maintenance and operation baked in, the project is estimated to cost $181 million.
