Whether it’s a big contract or a project in the early planning stages, the Techwire team is constantly tracking initiatives and contracts with the goal of giving our members better insight on what’s happening in California’s technology sector. Here’s a look at five IT projects in the works at city and county governments you may have missed.

  • On Jan. 10, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors discussed a series of proposed contract amendments with Tier 1A Generalist contractors, which provide professional and specialized services, technology products, equipment, and maintenance and training services. Among the proposals is a resolution authorizing the Office of Contract Administration to amend the city and county’s agreement with ComputerLand of Silicon Valley a third time. Under the amendment, the contract limit is increased from $44 million to $58 million for Oct. 1, 2014, through Sept. 30, 2018.

  • The Sacramento Department of Public Works recommended that City Council approve use of the National Joint Powers Alliance cooperative purchase agreement with Zonar Systems Inc. for fleet GPS monitoring and reporting services. The maximum purchase amount is $856,828, which will run through July 16, 2017, according to documents from the council’s meeting held Jan. 10.

  • The Tulare County Board of Supervisors earlier this week approved a capital asset purchase for an upgrade of the Sheriff’s Department radio coverage. The purchases include a digital comparator, four analog comparators and four UHF voting receivers from Motorola for $41,611. The board also approved the purchase of licensed microwave equipment from Aviat Networks; radio components from Talley Inc.; grounding frames from Valmont; and installation of voting equipment.

  • The Stanislaus County Library will be receiving 315 Samsung Zero Client Displays from Saitech Inc. for virtual desktop infrastructure. The Board of Supervisors approved the purchase on Jan. 10. According to documents detailing the purchase, the new equipment will “allow existing staff to be redirected to support new IT projects such as the Radio Frequency Identification Solution, Self Check-Outs and E-Commerce.”

  • San Mateo County recently awarded a contract with Sacramento-based Digital Deployment Inc. to redesign the Assessor-County Clerk Recorder website for a total cost of $162,000. The RFP for the project was issued June of last year.
