The Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services will use a federal grant to install cloud-based fraud detection services from Pondera Solutions, the company announced on Friday.
The Gold River, Calif.-based IT firm offers Fraud Detection as a Service solutions within a growing number of government verticals, such as Medicaid, unemployment insurance, and tax and revenue. Nevada will use the company’s technology to detect fraud and improper payments across the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Nevada received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) for the two-year project, according to Pondera.
“The FNS grant will support innovative development of new case management technologies that will have a direct effect on Nevada’s ability to effectively identify and prosecute SNAP recipient fraud and trafficking cases,” said Division of Welfare Support Services Administrator Steve Fisher. “This grant will support Nevada’s efforts to provide stronger investigations and outcomes with SNAP recipient trafficking prevention activities.”
