Tech Venture Firm Opening New Downtown Sacramento Headquarters

Velocity Venture Capital, which for the past three years has operated its Entrepreneurs Campus facility within a converted schoolhouse in old-town Folsom, Calif., is expanding into a new space in downtown Sacramento.

Velocity Venture Capital, which for the past three years has operated its Entrepreneurs Campus facility within a converted schoolhouse in old-town Folsom, Calif., is expanding into a new space in downtown Sacramento.

Velocity Venture Capital founder Jack Crawford made the announcement on Nov. 19 at the new location, the Renaissance Tower at 801 K Street, during the firm's annual Entrepreneur Showcase Demo Day.

At the invite-only event, 14 startups pitched potential investors as part of the culmination of Velocity's incubator mentoring program.

Crawford said a co-working space will be built on the 25th floor, professional services providers attorneys, human relations and accounting will be on the 26th floor, an audio-video lab for making Kickstarter, corporate and product videos will be on the 27th floor, and small office for Velocity Venture Capital is planned on the 28th floor.

"Pretty exciting stuff. It's effectively going to provide tremendous support for regional entrepreneurs and we're excited to play that support role," Crawford said.

The new office's first tenant is a new managed cloud computing services company started by the founders of RagingWire.

"The pipeline seems to be getting better and better each year," Crawford said about the Northern California startup scene. "Not only are the numbers going up, by the quality of companies is going up. We've made five investments in the last six months and we're going to continue on that pace going forward."

Velocity partner Monique Brown said their Folsom campus will remain open. In fact, the new downtown location will replicate elements, such as the co-working space and the video lab, that are successful at the Entrepreneurs Campus in Folsom.

Crawford founded Velocity Venture Capital in 2005.
