ITLA is a nine-month program focused on developing and extending leadership skills in areas such as strategic planning, networking, collaborative management, IT procurement, contracting, vendor management and more.

Training includes classroom sessions, group discussions, expert speakers and real-life scenarios in which managers address real-world problems with realistic solutions. The annual academy, which is going into its 24th year, trains the up-and-coming generation of state IT leaders.

Each year the participants complete a class project. ITLA 23 is working on two initiatives: the California Mentor Program and Security JumpStart.
