California County and Netherlands Co-Piloting E-mobility Project

Contra Costa Transportation Authority’s GoMentum Station in Concord has entered another public-private partnership.

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority’s (CCTA) GoMentum Station in Concord has entered another public-private partnership.

GoMentum station offers a private paved road of 20 miles where autonomous vehicles can be tested without public disclosure. Previously, GoMentum has worked with Honda and EasyMile. As of this month, GoMentum is teaming up with the Netherlands on the Coast-to-Coast Smart E-mobility program. The program is meant to make collaboration and innovation easier among governments, universities and companies.

The Coast-to-Coast Smart E-mobility program website asks, “Why develop the e-wheel twice, both in Europe and the US,” when both continents' west coasts are similar in challenges and business opportunities?

CCTA’s GoMentum Station website echoes the idea.

“Rather than exclusively trying to “build our way” out of congestion, CCTA’s vision centers around the use of emerging technologies and public-private partnerships to meet transportation demands and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Contra Costa County,” the website reads.

To that end, GoMentum will launch Holland’s autonomous car-sharing startup, Amber, in California.
