The California State Board of Equalization this week posted a job announcement recruiting for a new CTO of the Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS). The due date to apply is Feb. 8.

The job description and duties for this Career Executive Assignment position are as follows:

"Under the administrative direction of the Board of Equalization Chief Information Officer, the Chief Technology Officer (CEA B) formulates, recommends and implements policies and procedures for the Board’s the Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS) Project in order to replace the current Integrated Revenue Information Systems (IRIS) and the Automated Compliance Management System (ACMS). The incumbent manages the large, complex CROS application and system that will administer $53 billion in taxes and fees and an enterprise corporate database that supports BOE’s approximately 20+ tax and fee programs. The CTO participates in development and successful attainment of BOE’s business vision, mission, Strategic Plan and policy direction, and is responsible for the day-to-day development/implementation of BOE’s CROS application, system, enterprise architecture and infrastructure in support of the business strategic plan and direction. The CTO has ongoing contact with BOE Division Chiefs (CEAs), the CIO, Executive Director, Board Members, Executive Management, the Department of Finance, legislature Office, its industry representatives, other state agencies and independent IT contractors."

Former project director Eric Steen resigned last fall. Officials said this week during a Board of Equalization meeting that the CROS staff are continuing to evaluate final bid proposals for the project, and that process is on schedule.
