Do Tech Companies Really Have the Coolest Offices?

Some call it the Google effect.

Some call it the “Google effect," a trend in the last 10 years or so in which tech workspaces are being transformed with creative, convention-busting architecture, bold colors, and futuristic furniture and design cues. As startups and small shops try to compete for workers, many have followed that blueprint and turned the traditional office model on its ear. The cool office has become the status symbol that a big company car was once upon a time.

Increasingly, bland cubicles and sterile glass offices are being replaced by open workspaces, shared conference rooms and modular, flexible furnishings. Using energy-efficient technology and with an eye on ergonomics, employers are going all-in on design as a perk.

Do you work in a place where the offices are cool — where you're eager to host conferences and meetings, just to hear the oohs and ahhs of envious visitors? Techwire would like to hear from you for possible inclusion in a story we're working on about cutting-edge workplaces. Tell us about your domain, and send us your pictures if you have any.

But don't stop there. We also want to know about the people in your company. Has someone been promoted to a new sales position? Got a new chief innovation officer? Introducing a new product? Landed a big contract? Let us know.

Do you have an idea for a feature story or a tip on some industry news? You're a Techwire Insider for a reason, and we want to hear your ideas. Shoot an email or make a call to Techwire Managing Editor Dennis Noone (dnoone@techwire.net), (916) 932-1310. We're looking forward to your feedback.
