LA County's New HR Tech Modernizes Hiring, Employee Services

Los Angeles County has implemented a $2.6 million software service to streamline its HR processes.

Los Angeles County has implemented a $2.6 million software service to streamline its HR processes.

Hosting the system will cost $1.8 million over four years. The county has submitted the program to the National Association of Counties Achievement competition.

The new system digitizes applicant tracking, employee benefit information and access as well as training. It allows for notification of job openings before the application process opens, creates consistent job posting through digital templates, maintains supplemental documents in digital format and calculates work experience.

The system will assist in processing the 260,000 applicants a year using a cloud-based system.

Employees can access their own information and be validated for promotions.

The integration of these processes into one system allowed the county to retire four antiquated systems.

Benefits for applicants using the new system include:

  • A mobile-friendly Web portal
  • Social media integrations
  • Online scheduling
  • Status tracking
Benefits for staff include:

  • Digitization of entire recruitment and selection process
  • Integration with examination vendors
  • Improved list management
