Labor Agency CIO to Retire in October

Carlos Quant will conclude his long career in California state government at the end of October, Techwire has confirmed.

Quant is the agency information officer of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, a role he’s had the past six years. His last day will be Oct. 31.

Quant has held a variety of positions in California stretching back more than three decades.

He worked for the Department of Water Resources for nearly 20 years, starting in 1981 as a programmer and later promoted to become the supervisor of client server applications and then the chief of applications development and database administration.

Quant moved to the Franchise Tax Board in 2001, where he directed all network and telecommunications operations. In 2008 he began work creating the FTB Technology Services Division, bringing together functions such as portfolio management, project management, enterprise architecture and business intelligence.

Quant was named agency CIO of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency in 2010.
