The California Energy Commission Blog this week outlines new and emerging funding opportunities for entrepreneurs intended to spur energy innovation.

The California Energy Commission Blog this week outlines new and emerging funding opportunities for entrepreneurs intended to spur energy innovation.

"The goal of the funding opportunities from the California Energy Commission is to help accelerate the development and market adoption of promising new technologies and strategies," the commission writes.

There are three opportunities in particular, CEC says:

1. Sustainable Energy Entrepreneur Development (SEED) Initiative supporting early-stage clean-tech concepts, with funding amounts of $150,000 to $450,000.

2. Regional Energy Innovation Clusters "will provide four regions (Central Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego) funds to create regional networks for entrepreneurs and researchers."

3. Connecting Emerging Energy Technologies and Strategies to Market Needs and Opportunities, a funding solicitation for independent market analysis of emerging energy technology.

The CEC is hosting pre-bid workshops on these three solicitations in Fresno, Lynwood and Oakland. For more information, go to the California Energy Commission Blog.
