Sacramento Kings Give Fans 'Remote Control' for New Arena

Users will also be able to find “information about transportation and parking, arena line queuing, access to advanced game metrics and exclusive video angles," and the ability to play against one another in an advanced gaming platform for fans to compete and make predictions during games. Seat upgrades and direct-to-your-chair food service will also be available via the app.

Sacramento Kings fans will have a new app at their fingertips that could turn the city's new downtown sports and entertainment complex, the Golden 1 Center, into a virtual playground.

“This new app will be the fans’ remote control for the world’s most advanced arena, allowing them to customize and take control of their experience, and engage with the team like never before,” said Vivek Ranadive, Kings owner and chairman, in a press release from the NBA on Monday.

The new app, sponsored by Comcast Xfinity, will focus on guests’ experiences, both at events and Kings games in the new arena, according to the release. The app will work as a dual application, where users can switch between events at Golden 1 and Kings games, and will be available soon for free download in the App Store and Google Play.

Users will also be able to find “information about transportation and parking, arena line queuing, and access to advanced game metrics, exclusive video angles,” and the ability to play against one another in an advanced gaming platform for fans to compete and make predictions during games. Seat upgrades and direct-to-your-chair food service will also be available via the app.

KAI (“Kings Artificial Intelligence,” the team’s messenger bot via Facebook) will be featured in-app to answer questions about the team and venue. App users during concerts and events will be able to find “set lists ... track show announcements and get up-to-date event details.”

Built around an advanced digital platform by Built.io, the app will run “1,500 automations per game across 10 unique application program interfaces, ranging from the NBA to Urban Airship to PubNub,” according to the release. “This synchronizes a real-time experience with up-to-the-moment scores, play-by-play info, shot-chart details, as well as team and player stats and more.” The app will support at least 30 integrations, leaving the Kings and the Golden 1 Center plenty of room to tack on new features in the coming months.
