After a third reading on the Senate floor, SB 649, the Wireless Telecommunications Facilities bill, has moved to the Assembly.
The legislation could define small antennas under a Federal Communications Commission definition and make their placement a matter of state authority.
Supporters of the bill argue that state oversight can speed 5G deployment, while opponents fear the rural areas will be neglected in the rollout.
The bill was ordered to the Senate after being placed in the suspense file of the Appropriations Committee.
