SymSoft Working With CCC to Update Website

The California Conservation Corps is modernizing its website with the assistance of SymSoft, a company known for building government websites such as CA.gov and DGS.

The contract for the site was awarded in June, and Corps spokesperson Dana Howard expects that the project will be complete by the end of the year.

“We thought that it was time to give it a significant refresh and to make it more user-friendly for our potential recruits to reach out to us to enroll or join the California Conservation Corps,” Howard told Techwire.

SymSoft includes ADA accessibility and user experience in its designs.

The project will cost between $200,000 and $250,000, according to Howard.

The Conservation Corps site will be based on a WordPress platform to facilitate ease of use over multiple site administrators.

“Because we are a small organization, we are going to disperse and distribute the responsibilities of page management and ownership across the division. While we will not necessarily have individuals directly posting, removing or editing pages, we do have to have it so there will be a broader team who will have that capability,” Howard said.

When administrators from within the corps are not providing the services, WordPress technology will also translate.

“Because we are a small organization, we also must at times rely on services that come from an agency level, so to facilitate that, we thought it would be best to have it on a platform that had a broader understanding amongst both agency level and at staff level,” Howard said.
