Department of Conservation Searching for a New CIO

The California Department of Conservation is searching for a new CIO after Terese Matchim voluntarily returned to her former employer, Covered California.

Matchim was the chief information security officer at Covered California from 2012 to 2015, and has worked in various security and managerial positions in California state government for the past 17 years, at the Franchise Tax Board, the California State Teachers Retirement System, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Air Resources Board.

The Department of Conservation is developing an online data management system and public websites and databases to track oil and gas regulatory activities, particularly California's fracking industry.

The 2015-16 state budget included as much as $10 million for the development of an Oil and Gas Data Management System for the the Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources. The project has moved through the business analysis phase of the Department of Technology's approval process.

The CIO job posting at the Department of Conservation closes to applicants in mid-July.
