Longtime CIO for the city of Fresno, Carolyn Hogg, was just hired by the city of Alameda to be its new Information Technology and Innovation Director.
She was named one of the 13 Local Innovation Champions of Change by the White House in 2012, and focused her attentions in Fresno toward promoting agricultural technology and water research, and open data policies, among many other goals. Hogg was named one of Government Technology’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers in 2015.
She and her team in Fresno won the award in 2012 for her work to bring wireless broadband to the San Joaquin Valley. At the time, she said, “I’m so proud that the nation is recognizing what [California’s] Central Valley does and how it impacts the world,” Hogg said. “We feed a third of the world and we are going to maximize the use of technology to stimulate our local economy as well.”
Hogg’s LinkedIn profile states her job responsibilities with the city of Alameda will be “conducting an evaluation and assessment of citywide technology systems and services ... re-engineering municipal work processes and recommending new options to meet the needs of the city, and implementing advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and overseeing technology improvements including smart meter deployment at Alameda Municipal Power.”
Hogg started her work with the city of Alameda on Monday, Jan. 25.
