Former state of California department CIO Cheryl Hotaling this month joined Public Consulting Group (PCG) Technology Consulting as a senior adviser.
Hotaling previously was a vice president and state of California strategic account manager for CGI. She started with CGI in 2010.
Most recently in the public sector, she was project manager of the 21st Century Project payroll system modernization in the State Controller's Office (2008-10). Hotaling also has served as CIO for the Department of Child Support Services and deputy director for the Health and Human Services Agency Data Center.
Hotaling is listed as a mentoring director for the Sacramento chapter of Women in Technology International (WITI). She is a Sacramento native and is involved in local charities, including causes for wounded veterans.
PCG Technology Consulting holds a number of state contracts. On Jan. 22 the consultancy announced it has won a contract to conduct an independent risk assessment of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for the California Department of Public Health.
