Wallin-Rohmann Leaving Department of Technology in July

Andrea Wallin-Rohmann, chief deputy director of policy for the California Department of Technology, has accepted a new position as clerk/administrator for the 3rd District Court of Appeal in Sacramento.

Andrea Wallin-Rohmann, chief deputy director of policy for the California Department of Technology, has accepted a new position as clerk/administrator for the 3rd District Court of Appeal in Sacramento.

Wallin-Rohmann's last day at the Department of Technology will be July 31, if not sooner. She was appointed by the governor to her position in January 2014.

"I am excited about this opportunity and the future that lies ahead working with the Courts,” Wallin-Rohmann said in a statement.

Wallin-Rohmann previously served at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where since 1998 she filled several positions, including deputy director of human resources, CIO, project director of the business information system, special assistant to the deputy director of the financial services division and administrative assistant.

Prior to working at the CDCR, Wallin-Rohmann was the associate personnel analyst at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1997 to 1998, office technician and staff services analyst at the California Department of Corrections from 1993 to 1997, and an office assistant at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 1990 to 1993.

Wallin-Rohmann received a bachelor's degree in business administration and organizational management from California State University, Sacramento, and a master's degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix.

At the Department of Technology, Wallin-Rohmann was involved in the development of the State Technology Approval Reform (STAR) project and the department's new project approval life cycle.

Wallin-Rohmann replaced Anna Brannen as the Department of Technology's chief deputy director.

Wallin-Rohmann's departure comes on the heels of other changes in the executive ranks at the Department of Technology. State CIO Carlos Ramos and state Chief Information Security Officer Michele Robinson left in March. Deputy Director and Chief Counsel Anthony Lewis accepted earlier this month a position as assistant general counsel at the State Compensation Insurance Fund.

Matt Williams was Managing Editor of Techwire from June 2014 through May 2017.
