Case Study: State and Local Governments Run Mission-Critical 911 Applications on SimpliVity

Many state and local governments are dealing with IT infrastructure that is inefficient, risky, and outdated. Cost constraints, in particular, have led many government organizations’ data centers to fall into a standstill of non-productivity. There is a way to break this stagnation, however, which the Town of Newington, Connecticut, the Mississippi Department of Revenue, and the City of Arvada, Colorado all found out first-hand.

Town of Newington found their data center solution in SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure. Some of the benefits of SimpliVity realized by the Town of Newington, Connecticut include:

  • Ease of use, simplified troubleshooting for Newington’s small IT team
  • A reduced data center footprint for energy savings
  • Improved backup and disaster recovery performance for end users
  • A streamlined, hyperconverged infrastructure

Like the Town of Newington, the Mississippi Department of Revenue also found their data center needs were best met by implementing hyperconverged infrastructure. Prior to SimpliVity, the Mississippi Department of Revenue was having to manage multiple solutions and would have to deal with multiple vendors. With SimpliVity, there is a single solution to manage and a single vendor to interact with.

In addition to simplifying the relationship between vendor and customer, SimpliVity also simplifies the data center as a whole, from floor space, power, heating, and cooling operations and expenses to the performance, protection, and resiliency aspects of an IT infrastructure. With SimpliVity, the Mississippi Department of Revenue improved performance by 50% to 75% and also realized a capacity savings of up to 50:1.
