California Cancels Bid for Infant Data Management System

California's Office of Medi-Cal Procurement announced it has canceled an RFP for Infant Data Management Services, on the heels of initially issuing an Intent to Award.

California's Office of Medi-Cal Procurement announced it has canceled an RFP for Infant Data Management Services, on the heels of initially issuing an Intent to Award.

The cancellation "is in the best interests of the Department of Health Care Services," the office explained in a Nov. 29 announcement.

In October, the office gave a Notice of Intent to Award to OZ Systems USA, LLC, for the data management services contract for California's Newborn Hearing Screening Program. The procurement was put out to bid in July.

The program screens and evaluates approximately 500,000 babies each year at as many as 290 hospitals across the state. "The basic operations of the program are managed using an online automated system for collecting, reporting, tracking and monitoring infant information," the original RFP said.

The incumbent contractor of the Newborn Hearing Screening Program is Natus Medical Inc., with subcontractor Ambire Consulting Inc.
