Committee hearing on state technology procurement to be held Nov. 17

A California Assembly committee hearing on state technology and innovation will take place November 17 at the Capitol, a representative for Assemblymember Joan Buchanan said today.

The joint hearing of the California State Assembly Select Committee on Government Efficiency, Technology and Innovation and the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on State Administration will provide an overview of information technology procurement done by the state, said Susanna Schlendorf, chief of staff for Assemblymember Buchanan, who is chair of both committees.

"The goal is to provide select committee members with an overview of how information technology is currently being purchased by the state," Schelndorf said.

Various government speakers have been invited to attend the hearing and offer information, including Carlos Ramos, head of the California Technology Agency; Fred Klass, director of the Department of General Services; and Erika Li from the Legislative Analyst’s Office. The meeting will also include representatives from the vendor community, including Carol Henton of TechAmerica.

The hearing will take place from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Room 437 in the State Capitol.
