Sacramento Chapter of ACM hosting a symposium with Dr. Vint Cerf on Aug 2

Future Worlds Symposium will be hosted at City Hall and Intel and will feature celebrity technology pioneers Dr. Vint Cerf and others

On August 2, 2018 the Sacramento Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) will host a symposium featuring Dr. Vint Cerf, one of the creators of the Internet. The symposium will focus on Smart Cities and the Internet of Things, with a morning session at City Hall in Sacramento and an afternoon session at Intel in Folsom.

The morning will focus on Sacramento’s place in Information Technology (IT) for the future, including the city’s infrastructure and transportation systems. Mayor Steinberg has been invited to provide a welcome address for Dr. Cerf and discuss Sacramento’s special place in a future world with ubiquitous information technology and artificial intelligence. Dr. Cerf will also speak on the future of IT, and fact the world with an IT,  focus.

The afternoon session, to be held at the Intel facility in Folsom, will focus on the enabling and implementing technologies of the future, including the quickly developing and expanding Internet of Things. Dr. Cerf will be present, and sessions  will be hosted by Dr. Bebo White of Stanford University, and Dr. Sven Koenig of the University of Southern California and the chair of ACM’s Special Interest Group for Artificial Intelligence (SIGAI). Intel speakers and demos of IoT technology will also be available.
