The city of Sacramento is recruiting an information security officer, and the state Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting two IT professionals — one an IT supervisor II and the other an IT specialist II.

The city of Sacramento is recruiting an information security officer, and the state Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting two IT professionals — one an IT supervisor II, and the other an IT specialist II. 

The Sacramento position includes the following description: "Identifies and manages citywide and/or large-scale network needs through workload forecasting, response time evaluation, LAN/WAN throughput analysis; defines, designs and implements WAN/LAN connectivity solutions to meet departmental and citywide business needs; writes system-level programs and micro-code as needed; performs systems software installation, debugging, testing, and maintenance. Integrates system software and conduct integration testing for internal and external interfaces; develops and monitors citywide security programs; implements and monitors security tools; performs citywide security audits ... (and) evaluates and recommends vendor hardware and software products for purchase; coordinates problem resolution with outside vendors including outside consultants; tracks and documents software product licensing agreements." 

Candidates should be familiar with IT security project management, anti-virus solutions, network intrusion detection, vulnerability assessments, security forensics, PCI (payment card industry) or comparable security standards, network infrastructure and connectivity, firewall and perimeter design, and applications security.

The application deadline for this position is Oct. 10, and it has a salary range of $85,421 to $112,080. 

The EDD IT specialist II reports to the information technology (IT) manager I, serving in the System Engineering domain as an enterprise architect and is responsible for the development, maintenance, evolution and use of EDD’s Enterprise Architecture (EA). 

The job description is as follows: "Duties will include translating business plans and strategic objectives into specific outcomes that lead to innovative business solutions; creating future-state capabilities and architectures that will achieve them, and determining gaps from current state; developing data strategies, including conversion efforts for new systems; developing roadmaps that guide the progress of EDD’s business, data, more complex systems and technologies through active collaboration with subject matter experts of all levels; providing technical guidance and consulting to project teams, other architects, governance bodies, and other business and technical areas; and maintaining current knowledge of evolving technologies and industry trends, and determining potential impact to the enterprise and its architecture."

The IT supervisor II position has the following job description: "Under general direction of the Mainframe Services Section Chief, the incumbent will plan, organize, direct and manage the work of various staff and projects in the Application Services Division. The incumbent is responsible for the effective implementation and maintenance of the application systems that will meet Department customer needs within agreed upon schedules and ensures that systems are of high quality in terms of efficiency and maintainability and complies with the Division’s standards for systems documentation and performance. The incumbent will also maintain an active staff development program to provide employees with the opportunity for growth and to ensure trained staff are available for projects."
