The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) is recruiting for a deputy director of IT who will also serve as chief information officer (Career Executive Assignment) for the department. The position will be open as of Aug. 1, with the impending departure of CIO Subbarao Mupparaju.

The CIO/deputy director will oversee strategic planning, policy development, goal setting, management of enterprise architecture, information security, applications services, technology and infrastructure services, and department legacy systems interfaces, the job posting says. “As CIO, the incumbent implements FI$Cal’s information technology policies throughout the statewide systems, and in collaboration with other government organizations, state agencies’ CIOs, the Office of Chief Information Officer, and the California Office of Information Security on statewide information technology policies and plans.”

The Office of Digital Innovation (ODI), part of the California Government Operations Agency (GovOps), is seeking a head of Strategy, Operations and Procurement, a Career Executive Assignment. The “open and dynamic leader” will be responsible for “identifying new policies, or changes to existing policies, that are needed to improve how state government and ODI apply digital innovation to enhance service delivery, increase equity, meet the public’s evolving needs and rethink and improve how the state buys digital services,” the job posting says. The new leader will shepherd the development and implementation of priorities, policies and practices pertaining to strategic, operational and procurement functions within ODI.

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission is seeking a data manager to fill a two-year term “to provide leadership in the development and execution of the Commission’s Public Input data analytics plan, including oversight and direct responsibility for initiatives to achieve the commission’s goals and objectives for carrying out the plan,” the job posting says. “The applicant should be a creative problem-solver with experience in management, data analysis and modeling, research methodology, and statistical procedures, along with the ability to manage analysts and to work with data from a variety of disciplines. A strong candidate for this position will have a demonstrated background in project management and have experience validating and synthesizing data from a variety of disciplines.”

The monthly salary range is $8,173 to $9,681, and the recruitment will continue until the position is filled.

The California Prison Industry Authority (CalPIA) is recruiting for a manager (IT supervisor II) to oversee the authority’s web content, Salesforce and IT project management personnel. “The incumbent will ensure that CalPIA is maximizing efficiency and capitalizing on the full features and benefits of the Salesforce software system based on the various user group needs,” the job posting says. “This position will serve as the management lead for the Salesforce application, promote user adoption, keep current on new releases and AppExchange solutions, provide training plans, and more. The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking an analyst (IT specialist I) for the Release, Change & Configuration Management Unit (RCCMU), which ensures that system changes are introduced into the DHCS environments without compromising the integrity of the infrastructure while minimizing business service disruption. Requirements of the position, according to the job posting, include:

  • Demonstrated ability to create and document processes and plans
  • Establishing, managing and maintaining the Release Management process across the enterprise
  • Promote maximum automation of release processes to minimize downtime
  • Build and align the organization’s release calendar, working closely with product managers and technical teams to manage and execute milestones for each release

The Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is recruiting for a chief (IT manager I) of the Business Intelligence Division.

The chief will “plan, organize, control and lead the Business Intelligence and Reporting Unit, which is responsible for the delivery of business intelligence analytics and enterprise reporting services to the offices of the DMHC,” the job posting states. “The successful candidate will leverage existing Business Intelligence infrastructure to meet the tactical and strategic needs of the DMHC, which includes MarkLogic data integration platform and data lake, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft SQL Server Integration/Reporting /Analysis services, and Tableau.”
