Agency Recruiting for Chief of IT Infrastructure

The incumbent has full administrative responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with server implementations in support of DMHC operations. The manager also oversees support staff and infrastructure at all three DMHC office locations — the downtown Sacramento headquarters, the Rancho Cordova data center and the Los Angeles field office.

The state Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is recruiting for a Senior Server Operations Technician (IT Specialist I) to oversee server design, performance, connectivity, virtual operating systems and other software that operates in a multi-platform network environment. 

The position is in DMHC’s Office of Technology and Innovation within the Infrastructure Services Division. The Senior Server Operations Technician position is also listed as IT Manager/Chief of Infrastructure Services Division.  

The server infrastructure is virtualized (VMWare) on a Cisco UCS platform running Windows Server, with additional VMs running under Linux. 

“The incumbent has full administrative responsibility for standards, processes and procedures and administrative of server infrastructure projects,” the job posting says. They are also “responsible for 24x7 availability of mission-critical systems and server performance and availability. In addition, the incumbent has full administrative responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with server implementations in support of DMHC operations.”

The IT Manager position also oversees support staff and infrastructure at all three DMHC office locations — the downtown Sacramento headquarters, the Rancho Cordova data center and the Los Angeles field office.

“You will be part of a progressive infrastructure team responsible for conceptualizing, designing, implementing and supporting network and server infrastructure in support of the department’s strategic plan,” says an announcement on DMHC’s website. “You will be our server operations champion who is passionate about traditional and cloud architectures! You will be part of an established team that provides infrastructure as a strategic asset to create a more compelling and engaging health care experience for the citizens of California.”

The monthly salary range for this position is $5,297 TO $7,099, and the application deadline is Dec. 6.
