Agency Recruiting for Deputy CIO

The department just ended a record-setting year in terms of the number of Californians it helped. The new deputy is expected to provide strategic and tactical direction to continue that trend.

The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) is recruiting for a deputy chief information officer (CIO), with a job classification of IT Manager I, to work in its headquarters in Sacramento.

The deputy, working under the CIO, "directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the development, reporting, and continued operation of all information systems and related technology solutions throughout the agency," says the job posting. "The IT Manager I manages the business flow and technology projects across Technical (Infrastructure) and Application Systems Development unit within IT and assists the CIO in providing strategic and tactical direction for CalHFA's technology goals and objectives."

The deputy CIO also "influences business decisions regarding the use of technology and manages and communicates direction to staff and peers."

CalHFA was started in 1975 as a way to provide financing and programs for low- to moderate-income homebuyers and renters. The agency noted in a news release Tuesday that it helped more than 11,000 people buy their first homes in fiscal year 2018-19, the most ever in the agency's 44-year history.

Application deadline for the position is July 11. The monthly salary range is $7,376 to $9,884.
