The California Air Resources Board is recruiting for a deputy executive officer for Internal Operations to serve as the primary adviser to the board’s executive officer.

The position, which is a Career Executive Assignment, is focused on issues related to budgeting, human resources, IT and enterprisewide risk identification and mitigation, according to the job posting.

This deputy executive officer “advises and assists in the development, planning, coordination, policy formulation and strategic planning,” the job posting notes, and “is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of all board programs assigned to him/her; works closely with local air pollution control districts and CalEPA on issues within his/her portfolio; and is the primary department contact with control agencies such as the Department of Finance, California Department of Technology and the State Controller’s Office.”

Among the desirable qualifications for the role are:

  • Managerial experience in the planning, administration, execution and monitoring of IT-related enterprisewide projects and programs.
  • Ability to assess, analyze and identify administrative and information technology policy needs.
  • Knowledge of federal and state administrative and information technology laws, rules and policies.
  • Managerial experience that has demonstrated leadership in motivating and directing mid- and senior-level managers to accomplish program objectives.
The monthly salary range for the position is $10,360 to $12,341, and the application deadline is April 16.
