AIO, CIO Jobs Among State Recruitments

The two executive positions are among several specialized roles in recruitment by the state. Others include a chief information security officer and a systems enterprise architect.

The state is recruiting for two key executive positions – chief information officers for one department and one agency – among other roles it’s seeking to fill.

The Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) is seeking an agency chief information officer (AIO) to succeed Andrew Armani, who retired from that position in June. (Armani also served as deputy secretary for BCSH and as AIO for the Government Operations Agency).

“The AIO provides leadership and direction to BCSH’s 10-member constituent departments’ Chief Information Officers (CIO) and oversees those departmental IT activities,” the job posting notes. “The AIO formulates, analyzes, revises, interprets, and evaluates business operations, operational programs, and IT resources for BCSH and its constituent departments. The Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is seeking a CIO to take “overall responsibility for the information technology (IT) activities that support the Department’s critical lines of business,” the job posting says. “As CIO, the position has management authority over IT operations and project activities and is responsible for the establishment and execution of the DFEH IT infrastructure. The CIO serves as the statewide principal policymaker in the IT Division and serves as the Chief IT adviser to the Executive Staff on all aspects of IT. The CIO manages the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) that provides IT services in support of the Department’s programs, strategic goals, business objectives, and management principles.” The monthly salary range is $10,360 to $12,341, and the application deadline is Aug. 30.

The Department of Health Care Services is recruiting for a chief information security officer (CISO) to be responsible for designing, architecting, building and delivering secure innovative solutions and services that drive health care quality and for information technology (IT) strategy formulation, enterprise architecture, enterprise portfolio management, and enterprise governance,” says the job posting for this IT Manager II position. The position requires “extensive knowledge and experience of IT, information security, risk and compliance within the health care business. Responsibilities reside within the Information Security Engineering, Business Technology Management, System Engineering, and Software Engineering domains and relies upon knowledge and an understanding of large department operations, enterprise governance, security strategy, security risk management and compliance, cybersecurity attack vectors & breach methods, system architecture, business continuity, and technology recovery,” the recruitment notes. The monthly salary range is $9,725 to $11,821, and the application deadline is Aug. 18.

And the California Department of Technology (CDT) is recruiting for a Systems Enterprise Architect (IT Specialist III) to “work collaboratively with the Linux, Unix, AIX, Solaris and Window Service Areas to ensure CDT develops cost-effective solutions to meet customers’ business requirements and align solutions with CDT service offerings,” the job posting says. “The IT Spec III will work with the Linux, Unix, AIX, Solaris and Window Service Areas to develop continuous integration/continuous delivery solutions, containerization, use of open source solutions, and database optimization. The IT Spec III possesses extensive technical knowledge, which includes emerging ‘cutting-edge’ technologies.” The position has a monthly salary range of $8,119 to $10,880, and the application deadline is Friday.
