Bay Area Special District Seeking IT Manager

A special district that serves the Bay Area is seeking an IT manager, and the deadline for applications is Wednesday.

The Sonoma County Water Agency is recruiting for an IT manager who will oversee technology services for the special district, which serves Sonoma and Marin counties. Application deadline is Wednesday.

The IT manager will oversee day-to-day operations and strategic planning, managing enterprise systems such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), data centers, networks and security, disaster recovery projects, and Internet services. The manager "coordinates, plans, organizes, and reviews the work of staff assigned to provide a full range of systems planning, design, programming, implementation, installation, maintenance, and support for computer systems operating on a variety of platforms," the job posting says. The manager is also responsible for:

  • Overseeing the networks, operating systems, peripherals, and software that support Sonoma Water's business and utility needs
  • Directing design, coding, and modifications to the network, security protocols, computer systems, programs, and procedures for the solution of engineering and mathematical problems, accounting, telemetry control, data acquisition, and administrative systems
  • Recommending, implementing and documenting changes, policies, and procedures
  • Performing administrative duties including budget preparation and employee selection, training, and evaluation
  • Performance, safety and security of the organization's information technology hardware and software, including establishment of standards and security procedures for both software and physical protection 
The position has an annual salary range of $110,012 to $133,742 and an extensive benefits package. Applications are being accepted online
