Big State Department Recruiting for Security Operations Manager

The California Department of Transportation is recruiting for a security operations manager, who would report to the department's chief information security officer and oversee complex technology functions.

The incumbent for the position, which carries a designation of Information Technology Manager I, is responsible for in-depth systems analysis, design and administration, system integration, testing, maintenance and operations. The manager also has full responsibility for standards, processes and procedures for analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation and procurement as they relate to the IT security domains (e.g., access management, endpoint security, vulnerability management).  

Requirements for the position include six years of IT experience with “a variety of progressively responsible technical, analytical, or supervisory tasks in support of computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging IT field,” says the job listing. Also, “at least two years of experience shall include performance of highly specialized work in a lead capacity on highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services, or in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity over highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services.”
