California IT Spending for FY2017-18

With a new calendar year two weeks away, the state is considering its next budget cycle. Gov. Jerry Brown's proposed budget for fiscal 2018-19 is anticipated to be approved in early January. A revised version will be released in May.

Until then, though, California is in its 2017-18 fiscal year, with that budget having been approved on Jan. 10, 2017, and the budget has about $7 billion set aside for IT spending. Much of that budget is parceled out to state agencies, with the top IT budget belonging to the state's Department of Health Care Services.

The overall budget of $291 billion is made up of federal contributions and state revenue, which is differentiated below.
