California's Grid Operator Has New Communications Options

The state's grid operator has new ways to get information to stakeholders.

California's Independent System Operator (Cal-ISO), which maintains the state's wholesale energy transmission grid, has just launched two new communication options for stakeholders.

Cal-ISO issues Flex Alerts, communicates with utility companies throughout the state and helps maintain the state's grid.

The changes includes a new category in the ISO Daily Briefing to increase access to initiative documents. This space, called "Market Notice Documents," will include issue papers, proposals and updates to materials already available. It is the field for information to be included that does not need a separate alert.

The other improvement is Cal-ISO's ability to customize lists that allow targeted information like news releases to be sent to groups that directly connect with the department. The communication groups could include subscription lists, application users, specific communication teams of groups or departments and lists created at events.

Neither of these updates will replace the broader communication strategy of market notices.
