The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) first posted the CISO opening last week, and the job listing will remain active until the position is filled. Candidates must have business management experience and “a working knowledge of cybersecurity technologies” for the position, which is part of the IT senior leadership team and “provides direction and policy guidance.”
“The CISO provides direction on information security and privacy across all of CalPERS programs (e.g., retirement, health, and investment),” the posting says. “This position has broad authority and management responsibility for protecting the privacy, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CalPERS information and services. The CISO aligns services responsible for information security, privacy, and security operations to enable CalPERS business objectives within acceptable levels of security and privacy risk.”
The position is a Career Executive Assignment, and the monthly salary range is $10,010 to $11,924.
The senior software engineer position (classified as IT specialist II) “is responsible for integrity, maintainability, and overall functionality of the Master Control Program (MCP) system. The ITS II works closely with the solutions architects, business analysts, developers, testers of their own domain and other domains. The ITS II position works primarily in the Software Engineering domain.”
