The California Department of Technology (CDT) has awarded a $36 million, 30-month contract to Maximus, a global company specializing in government services, to run the California LifeLine Program.
CDT awarded the competitive bid contract on behalf of the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC). The LifeLine Program provides discounted home phone and cellphone services to eligible households. The contract has two additional one-year contract extension options, which would bring the total cost to $65 million.
Maximus’ scope of work includes eligibility determination, call center services, Web-based enrollments and document intake and processing, according to a news release.
Maximus works with government agencies in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
