CHP's CIO Reappointed to State 9-1-1 Advisory Board

Gov. Jerry Brown has reappointed the chief information officer for the California Highway Patrol to the State 9-1-1 Advisory Board for a two-year term. He also appointed three other Californians with law enforcement backgrounds to their first terms on the advisory board.

In addition to his role as CIO, Chief Scott Howland has headed the CHP’s Information Management Division since 2014. He has served the agency in several positions since 1990, including assistant chief in the Coastal Division and in the Office of the Assistant Commissioner for Leadership Development and Communications and captain in the Office of Special Representative.

Also named to the 9-1-1 Advisory Board were:

  • Ingrid E. Braun, 50, of Mammoth Lakes, who has been sheriff-coroner and director of emergency services for the Mono County Sheriff’s Office since 2014.
  • Hanan Harb-Patterson, 55, of San Diego, who has been communications coordinator for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department since 2000. She is a member of the National Emergency Number Association.
  • Lee Ann Magoski, 42, of Petaluma, who has been communications dispatch manager for the Marin County Sheriff’s Office since 2011.   
According to state officials, "The State 9-1-1 Advisory Board advises the California 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office on policies, practices and procedures for the office; technical and operational standards for the California 9-1-1 system consistent with National Emergency Number Association standards; training standards for county coordinators and PSAP managers; budget, funding, and reimbursement decisions related to the State Emergency Number Account; proposed projects and studies conducted or funded by the State Emergency Number Account, and expediting the rollout of Enhanced 9-1-1 Phase II technology."

These positions do not require Senate confirmation, and the compensation is $100 per diem.
