Department of Industrial Relations Seeking CIO

The state Department of Industrial Relations is advertising and recruiting for its Chief Information Officer position, which is based in Oakland.

The state Department of Industrial Relations is accepting applications for its next Chief Information Officer, a position based in Oakland. 

The CalCareers website posted the position Friday. Application deadline is Aug. 28. 

The CIO "is responsible for the overall design, development, execution, and oversight of the Department of Industrial Relations information technology (IT) systems and programs," the posting says. "The CIO oversees the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and operational activities of the department, its divisions and programs. In addition, the CIO represents the information technology projects with stakeholders, including state and federal government agencies, vendors, and consumers of the systems."

The position, which is classified as a Career Executive Assignment (C.E.A.) Level B, has a salary range of $120,120 to $143,088.

"The CIO provides expert direction, guidance and oversight to all technical staff on all information technology infrastructure including server, telecommunications, network, and security support staff in effort of migration of existing technologies to cloud based and mobile platforms that are supported by the State CIO," the posting says. 

In addition, the CIO will "oversee and coordinate Information Security Officer (ISO) efforts to manage, plan, design, and implement the various security systems and infrastructure on the network, servers, workstations, peripherals, storage devices, databases, and all other areas where security is critical. Ensure that intrusion prevention technologies, mobile computing (e.g., smartphones) remote access, and secure cloud services are in place. The incumbent participates in security groups at the State and Agency levels, and participates in enterprise-level initiatives."
