Department Seeking IT Supervisor II to Oversee Cloud, Networking

The supervisor will oversee development, testing, deployment and maintenance of the most complex network and cloud technologies, and will manage the configuration and maintenance of network and cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance and security.

The state Department of Recycling and Recovery is recruiting for an IT Supervisor II to assume direct supervision of staff of the Network Services Section and to oversee cloud and networking infrastructure.

The position includes overseeing the work of the section in the following areas:

  • Development, testing, deployment and maintenance of the most complex network and cloud technologies
  • Configuration and maintenance of network and cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance and security
  • Maintenance of virtualization and mobile computing
  • Maintain the Technology Recovery Plan (TRP) document 
The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, known as CalRecycle, is under the umbrella of the California Environmental Protection Agency. “CalRecycle brings together the state's recycling and waste management programs and works toward a society that uses less and recycles more. Our vision is to inspire and challenge Californians to achieve the highest waste reduction, recycling, and reuse goals in the nation,” says the department’s website.  

“CalRecycle provides its entire staff with a robust technical environment, including workstations running Windows 10/Office 2016 (moving to Office 365) and equipped with dual and/or large monitors, webcams, and Skype VOIP,” the department website notes. The chief information officer for CalRecycle is Susan Slaven, and Sarah Keck is the deputy director over IT.
