Department Seeking Virtualization Administrator

The position requires expertise in designing and monitoring cloud and virtual environments, as well as working with vendors and recommending solutions for the department.

The California Department of General Services is recruiting for a virtualization administrator (IT specialist I), who will work within its Solutions Center and Cloud Services (SCCS) and perform a variety of IT services, including the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and administration of the cloud and virtual environments, according to the job posting.

Additional responsibilities include providing technical expertise in multiple and complex enterprise virtual environments and planning, building, troubleshooting and monitoring virtual technologies, according to the position’s duty statement. In addition, the incumbent will have expertise in complex enterprise storage and backup environments using DellEMC and VMware best-practice standards for security, scalability and functionality. The position is also responsible for evaluating vendors’ software and technology and for recommending products that advance the department’s mission and business needs.

The position has a monthly salary range of $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Sept. 28.
