State Agencies Seeking Section Chief, Risk Coordinator

The section chief will oversee modernization of the department's project portfolio, among other things. The risk coordinator will work with executives and business and technology teams.

Two state agencies are recruiting for IT management positions — one for a Business Management Section chief, and the other for an enterprise risk coordinator.

The section chief position (IT Manager II) is with the Department of State Hospitals (DSH), Technology Services Division (TSD), IT Business Management Section. The department is seeking “a conscientious leader who can improve collaboration and execute strategic direction with a proven record of complex analysis, project management according to the CA Project Management Framework (CA-PMF), (IT) budgeting and procurements, and IT contract management.”

The job posting, which includes an application link, notes that “certifications such as PMBOK PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP and CSM, as well as SAFe and LSS capabilities are an added advantage.” This chief “will be key in modernizing the DSH project portfolio and actively building effective project management and business analytics teams.” The chief “serves in an executive management role influencing organizational IT policy and formulating long-range IT programs/objectives.”

The chief must “work effectively with internal department stakeholders, and technology management and staff in providing expertise to successfully plan, execute, report, monitor and close projects and contracts critical to the department’s goals in addition to IT asset management services and IT budget and procurement services for the department.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $9,262 to $11,258. There is no application deadline; the recruitment will continue until the position is filled.

The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is recruiting for an enterprise risk coordinator (IT Specialist I) to work with DCSS executives and business and technology programs to define, document, implement and oversee an Enterprise Risk Management Program. The selected candidate will work collaboratively on the implementation of statewide solutions and deliverables.

Candidates should have “a comprehensive knowledge of practices and principles of risk management, including experience with the Department of Finance State Leadership Accountability Act and the Standards for Internal Control in the federal government,” says the job posting.

The position has a monthly salary range of $5,118 to $8,528, and the application deadline is Sept. 3. The job posting includes a link to apply.
