Developing Opportunities: Firewalls, Servers, Security, Virtualization

A state agency's job recruitment notice indicates possible opportunities on the horizon for those selling tech goods and services to the state.

A potential opportunity for those selling tech to the state surfaced this week in a story about a job recruitment for an IT Specialist II by the California Department of Justice.

The announcement indicates a need for someone experienced in “planning and/or architecting environments with Linux/UNIX type systems for projects, including possible supporting technologies such as external firewalls, Windows servers, COTS products, etc.”

The department’s announcement calls for someone experienced in “planning of computer systems installations and enhancements for in-house and external clients.”

In addition, there could be a future opportunity for those with products or services related to performance analysis of system efficiency and ways to optimize system performance. There may also be opportunities relating to virtualization, scripting (Python, BASH), Microsoft Office, and network security. All are mentioned in the job posting, where more details may be found.
