DGS Awards New Statewide Contracts

The Department of General Services has awarded three new non-mandatory statewide contracts for FedRAMP-certified, moderate platform-as-a-service and infrastructure-as-a-service offerings.

IBM will handle Softlayer Federal Cloud servicesJHC Technology will offer Amazon Web Services; and Dell Marketing's statewide contract will be for Microsoft Azure offerings.

While use of these contracts, announced in late October, is not mandatory for state departments, it is an option for them and for local government agencies.

Statewide contracts are time-limited contracts that negotiate a price for a service at the state level, so departments can then make purchases at a preset price.
